EVENT PREVIEW: Electric Escape Pres. U4RIA feat. Mark Sixma to M6 Extended Set @ Nest 09-02-18

Once again, it’s time for Electric Escape to bring us another event in their flagship series U4RIA. This event marks their first event of 2018 and they’re bringing the big guns for this edition, with Mark Sixma at Nest.

It would be almost impossible to discuss the state of trance in the past decade without the conversation turning to the dutch powerhouse that is Mr. Sixma. Mark has long been a staple of trance lineups around the world, playing at international festivals such as Stereosonic, ASOT, and Ultra Miami. With over a dozen years of experience, dozens of tracks and releases with the most recognizable names in trance music, Mark Sixma is a powerhouse in his own right. We will also be lucky enough to see this extended set transition into his other alias, Mark Sixma presents M6. Check out the new sound below.

Every time I see Sixma play he ends up surprising me and stealing the show, even if he’s not the main headliner. I remember seeing him play a closing set for Cosmic Gate at Sound Academy (before it was Rebel) and he totally blowed me out of the water. It wasn’t just me either – everybody I spoke to about that night agreed that Sixma played the better set. I’m certainly looking forward to an equally exciting and energetic set this time around.

Providing the local support is Electric Escape’s very own resident mix-master DeeCee. As the man behind the event and behind the decks, Derek is a fixture of the Toronto dance music scene. Unless you’ve been residing under a geological formation for the past couple of years, you’ve probably seen DeeCee spin some form of Trance, house, progressive, psy, or most likely a mixture of all of the above. The guy is versatile.

Also on the lineup is relative newcomer A.D. The Kid. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find out much about the man, and have yet to see what kind of tunes he offers up, but I’m always excited to see new talent and if he’s on this lineup it’s bound to be interesting. In any case, I’m fairly sure that he’ll play a solid opener!

So, if you haven’t got anything better to do (trust me, you don’t) then grab some tickets, your most comfortable dancing shoes, and head on down to Nest on Friday for another round of U4RIA. We’ll see all you lovely people on the dance floor.
