In 2016, the team at Electric Escape set out to change the face of trance in Toronto when they announced their debut event Escape 138 held at Rebel Nightclub. This June 1 & 2, Electric Escape presents U4RIA Trance Festival, Canada’s first all trance festival, at the Toronto Event Center. Some are calling U4RIA the “Canadian Dreamstate”, but we think that the Electric Escape team has distinguished themselves in a way that is unique to Toronto. They have never tried to say they are recreating the Toronto trance scene, but instead building upon the solid foundation already here to take it to another level.

Deecee (Derek Chen) is a partner and resident DJ for Electric Escape. Two years ago he promised trance lovers in Toronto the time of their lives and has exceeded our expectations and blown our minds with the series of U4RIA events they’ve been having since their debut. World class DJs and producers will be traveling to Toronto for a two-day event packed with a full spectrum of trance styles for every trance lover.
Team EDM TOR has been working with Electric Escape since their very first event. Escape has been graciously providing our team of trance enthusiasts access to their artists and venues and they’ve become a special part of the EDM TOR family. From exclusive event photography and live social media updates at events, to written previews and reviews, Team EDM TOR has been illustrating the Electric Escape journey with our supportive coverage from day one.
My personal list for must-see artists is, in no particular order: Super8 & Tab, Sheridan Grout, Heatbeat, Giuseppe Ottaviani, and Alex M.O.R.P.H, but there are many more artists to choose from. If you’re looking for some hard trance then make sure to catch Jordan Suckley, Indecent Noise, Bryan Kearney, and Mark Sherry. If you are like my wife and you tend to like the more bouncy trance, then check out Somna, Craig Connelly and of course the vocals of Haliene. For the trance purists, you’ll be happy with sets from John O’ Callaghan, Cold Blue, and Ferry Tayle. Need psy? Don’t worry, Astrix is also coming. I am excited to see there is also going to be a stage dedicated to local DJs and producers. The Canadian Heroes Stage boasts names like Deecee, Brian Longmire, and A.D. the Kid, DJ kärl k-otik and Lars Pedersen (MTL), HNR Sound and RAYZ (HAM), Niles Baxter (OTT), and even M45 from Buffalo, NY.
Providing a gorgeous backdrop for this epic trance lineup is the Toronto Event Centre, which also played host to Electric Escape’s wildly successful Escape Together event in December 2017. If the sun is out, expect some wet and wild fun as guests will have access to not one but two outdoor pools! If it rains (or snows, you never know these days), the classically designed, beautiful interior will keep us dry in style as we dance the night away. Located near the CNE grounds, the venue is still close enough to the downtown core that a quick Uber or taxi ride will bring you right to its doorstep.

If you’re looking to get down to a couple of days of Trance music, U4RIA Festival is definitely for you. However, I suggest you hurry up and get your tickets, because I am happy to report that at the time of writing this article the online tickets were already 80% sold out. Escape also recently announced that a limited number of single day tickets will be available until they are gone.
