Following the release of his debut album on the Anjunadeep label earlier this year, Toronto is welcoming back Yotto as part of his “Hyperfall“ tour next month. If you love progressive/deep house, then make sure to find yourself at CODA on November 17th for this awesome event!
Yotto is a Finnish DJ, songwriter, and record producer. Born and raised in Helsinki, he grew up in a house full of music and started his musical career early. According to his official biography, his personal tastes developed by digging through music at the public library, where he drew his crucial first inspirations from legendary acts like Moby, Orbital and The Chemical Brothers.
The beginnings of his love of dance music, however, came from electronic duo Röyksopp. And this love was further stoked by early progressive trance and house artists including Sasha, John Digweed, and System F/Ferry Corsten.
Deemed “a man of many sounds” by Billboard and “an experimental house talent” by Dancing Astronaut, Yotto has also worked alongside other well-known DJs and producers such as Above & Beyond, Coldplay, M83, London Grammar, Rüfüs, Lane 8, and Super8 & Tab. And after his unique sound caught the attention of Anjunadeep label boss James Grant in 2015, the rest is history.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see Yotto perform next month at CODA! Since hearing his album for the first time, I haven’t taken it off repeat — from the chill and melodic Nada C, to the upbeat and groovy Walls, this album is seriously on point. Check out Hear Me Out from Hyperfall below:
“[Hyperfall] is generally inspired by the feeling of having lost and found your car keys at the same time,” describes the artist. “There’s drama, distress and deep, profound contemplation mirrored with relief and relentless joy.”
Simon Doty is one of the supporting acts for this event, and while his name may not ring a bell, trust that it does for the industry leading artists and labels. He has been engrossed in the music industry for over a decade, spending the last 5 years focusing on mixing and mastering while also running his label, Rhetorical Music. His mixing and mastering skills have led to tracks being released on countless major influencers such as: Toolroom, Spinnin, Armada, Suara, 1605, and Snatch to name a few. These releases have also been featured on channels such as BBC Radio 1, as well as staple publications such as DJ Mag.
Make sure to catch Navid Mehr as one of the opening acts for Yotto. With a rich heritage in the modern underground dance movement, Navid Mehr, has found considerable success from his adopted home in Toronto. A man with a strong affinity to his Iranian homeland through its beauty and nature, Mehr’s work, initially through the Beat Syndrome outfit with Hamed Safi, saw a plethora of high profile releases hit the virtual shelves for the likes of Liquid Grooves, Balkan Connection and Sound Avenue and a rapidly emerging career at the forefront of the underground.
All I know is, this party will not disappoint! Online tickets for this event are no longer available, but more spots will be available at the doors (first to come, first served) which are set to open at 10PM.
