EVENT PREVIEW: Masters of Trance @ Beachclub Fuel, Bloemendaal, The Netherlands 28-03-20

Masters of Trance is always the first trance party of the year at the famous Beachclub Fuel – the former host of Luminosity Beach Festival. This party  always has a stacked line-up and this edition is no exception with the likes of Ferry Corsten, Will Atkinson, Mark Sherry, DIM3NSION, Sied van Riel and support from Toyax on the bill. In recent years, the Masters of Trance consistently brings forth a full house. Featuring 2 fully covered terrace areas this year, the DJs will be treating us to extended sets and a 4-hour set from the undisputed master of trance, Ferry Corsten, as a highlight!

If you are talking about trance pioneers, you cannot forget to mention Ferry Corsten. Ferry has so many classics under his belt such as Punk, Fire, Brute (Collab with Armin van Buuren) and Out Of The Blue (as System F). His recent “Unity Project” features works in collaboration with a number of other DJ’s including the legendary Paul Oakenfold, Gabriel & Dresden, Jordan Suckley and his most recent release, Flanging, featuring Purple Haze. With all these releases in the works, the man somehow also has time for creating beautiful records under his Gouryella alias. In 2019 he released Surga, a fresh addition to his Gouryella catalogue that includes Anahera and Venera (which was included on his “Blueprint” album). He has been touring since the nineties and there are no signs of stopping in the future. Recently he announced the launch of his new Open2Close tour series What The F” featuring music from a number of his different aliases while still touring as Ferry Corsten, System F and Gouryella.  Now he is back in Holland as himself for a special 4h set that you cannot miss! Expect to hear some Ferry classics and some recent tracks from his label Flashover Recordings.

Headlining the second stage is UK DJ/producer Mark Sherry.  As the label owner of Outburst and Techburst Recordings, Mark is a master pf tech-trance and melodic techno.  Mark has already been in the business for over 25 years, but he has no intention of stopping making incredible tech-trance. His new alias featuring David Forbes, Thick As Thieves, dives into the world of melodic techno and he has mentioned new tracks on the way in a tweet recently. He is no stranger to Beachclub Fuel after his many incredible Luminosity Beach Festival sets. In 2019, he released his debut album, “Confirm Humanity” and recently remixed O [Overdrive] from Scot Project so expect a lot of fresh tracks in his  3-hour set! You might experience a couple of his Thick as Thieves tracks,  Techburst releases, fresh material by Mark himself, Gentech (his collaboration with Scot Project) and maybe even a couple of classic tech-trance or hard trance tracks. Be sure to check out this Scottish legend and be prepared to dance until your legs hurt!

Closing the first area is one of the strangest and most unpredictable DJs in the trance scene, Will Atkinson. The kilt-clad Scotsman famously brought rubber chickens into the ASOT studio (and gained a fanbase because of that), took his lamp for a walk through the streets of Glasgow and releases odd tracks on his label Victims Helpline. He is part of the famous VII crew who have proved themselves as a major driving force in the trance scene. After last year’s Luminosity Beach Festival we know Will is familiar with Beachclub Fuel as he played not 1, but 2 sets in the same day – bot sets being completely unique.
Will is highly energetic and animated on stage. His tracks such as Telescope, Numb The Pain and his remix of JES’ Imagination put the people on the dancefloor into a state of trance. We never quite know what to expect when Will takes the stage. Is he going to wear a kilt to the party like he did at ASOT 900? The only way to find out is to be there!

Sied van Riel
played at A State Of Trance 400 in Wuppertal, Germany and rocked the stage at Summerlake in Woerden, The Netherlands in 2019. He is mostly known for his tracks Stealing Time, Rush and Navigator. His remix of Traffic by Tiesto and For Your Love by Offer Nissim ft. Maya are truly gems. Sied will be treating us to an extended 3 hour set from 18:00 to 21:00 in the second area right before Mark Sherry closes off the night. He is a master at reading the crowd and has a knack for playing the right tracks at the right time. He has a great sense of humour so it is never a dull moment with this guy!

Opening Area 1 prior to Ferry Corsten is one of the most prolific trance artists to come out of Spain, DIM3NSION. He is known for his tracks on Flashover, Coldharbour and ASOT Recordings. There was a huge hype around his 2015 track Origami, which was compared to the older Gouryella tracks. He could be considered a protégé of Ferry Corsten, with most of his records being produced by him. In early 2018 the two teamed up for a powerful and emotional single, Safe With Me, which made it to #2 in the trance charts. Everywhere he plays, usually, Ferry Corsten is there as well. Nowadays he is very productive in his studio in Vigo, Spain and his latest track Santa Cruz is a stormer!

The support act for the second stage is Haarlem-native, Toyax. He is mostly known for tracks like Summer Memories, Azalea and Melody is Everywhere. He has played events all over the world including Electronic Family, Nature One and Grotesque. He is a highly versatile artist and can perform with any equipment, though he prefers to spin CDs and vinyl. His speciality is mixing classics you may have never heard with his own productions. His sound can vary with his collection spanning from trance, hard trance, and acid, to techno and house. Be sure to check him out as he is going to change up from his usual style and treat us to an all-classics set!

Beachclub Fuel has a special place in the hearts of many trance fans and with this edition of Masters of Trance it will cement that place for many years to come. This annual event always has a stacked line-up. Past editions have included a Giuseppe Ottaviani DJ-set and an incredible and memorable set from John Askew back in the day. The event runs from 17:00 to 0:00 on March 28, 2020 at Beachclub Fuel in Bloemendaal, the Netherlands. Tickets are currently available for €25,37.  It’s time to pack your suitcase and join us on the beach for this epic event.
