Among the craziness that is our world today, the dance music scene has exploded with live streams and a flood of new music. Cutting its way through all of the noise is the new trance supergroup Elysian. I don’t use the phrase “supergroup” lightly; the team is formed from three of trance’s most prolific artists: Ilan Bluestone, Maor Levi and vocalist Emma Hewitt. Their debut record Moonchild is released through the highly celebrated label Anjunabeats and is a blend of Ilan’s piercing leads, Levi’s grinding bass lines, and Emma’s angelic vocals!
The extended mix of Moonchild starts off with a dark techno style kick and bass that sets the mood for the rest of the track. As it progresses, the atmospheric pads and drums drive on before dropping into a warm bliss full breakdown where the soothing voice of Emma Hewitt hits you and the tension starts to build. This is a good time to point out that the word “Elysian” is meant to describe a blissful state. As the drop hits, the release of the synths, bass, drums and vocals really do bring listeners to a blissful state.
Ilan Bluestone has positioned himself as one of the Anjunabeats’ top stars. He has released some of trance’s biggest hits such as Will We Remain, Mama Africa and his remix of the timeless Above & Beyond record, We’re All We Need. Bluestone also recently streamed an epic four hour live set from his home studio where he debuted what seemed like an endless supply of unreleased music. The future is bright if you get excited about new Ilan Bluestone music.
Maor Levi is a veteran in the dance scene. He has been signing records to Anjunabeats since he was 15 years old. With hits such as Chasing Love and On Our Own, he has become a staple to trance lovers playlists. Levi is constantly earning spins of his tracks in the sets of Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren and Tiesto.
If you have ever listened to a trance set, you have probably heard the voice of Australian born Emma Hewitt. Emma is an icon in the trance scene with her powerful voice earning her collaborations with almost every major artist in the trance industry. Some of the collaborations she has worked on include Take Everything with Gareth Emery, You and I with Aly & Fila, Be Your Sound with Cosmic Gate and my personal favourite, My Reflection with Andrew Rayel. Now you can add Elysian to Emma Hewitt’s resume. There is no stopping her!
Moonchild is exactly what I would anticipate from these three artists. It is a professionally produced, well-written anthem for the newly established trio. I cannot wait to see what is next for Elysian but I am sure we can prepare for some epic music coming our way.
