Armin Van Buuren does not need much introduction. He is a Trance legend. Changing the face of Trance since 1995, some would say Armin is the King of Trance, or maybe that’s just my biased opinion. Ranked the #1 DJ in the world several times, it’s easy to see why anyone would want to collaborate with someone so gifted in making music.
Arty, a young Progressive & Trance Producer/DJ from Russia has been quickly making a name for himself since 2009 when he released his first EP “Vanilla Sky”. In 2010, his single Bliss appeared on Armin Van Buuren’s radio show “A State of Trance”, and his breakthrough came later that year when Above & Beyond signed him onto their label Anjunabeats. Fast forward to 2013 and Arty has reached a new level in his career, collaborating with the Trance legend himself. Maybe Arty is making his way back to more Trance in the future?
Both of their sounds combined creates a very unique track; an upbeat but delicate progressive trance sound with the help of light vocals. Combining the uplifting qualities of Armin classics with an energized bass line that screams Arty, this track seriously takes you through an emotional journey. “Trance anthem” is one term that comes to mind when hearing these two producers together. An interesting choice for a track title, Armin explains where the name Nehalennia came from:
“Named after a Celtic or Germanic goddess from the 2nd century before Christ, she was honoured where the Rhine River flows into the North Sea. A little bit like when we all leave from Holland for The Expedition.”
Armin is of course referring to The Expedition that’s about to begin with the A State Of Trance 600 world tour set to begin February 14th, also coincidentally the same day that Armin will release his compilation, A State of Trance 2013 which includes this brand new track. Hearing Nehalennia was love at first listen. This will no doubt become a fan favourite and set a high standard for the rest of this year. It’s obvious that Trance is going to be epic in 2013, and with tracks like this already being released, we’re sure to see many more. If you love Trance and you’re not afraid of 138, you’re going to love this track more and more with each passing minute.
Nehalennia will be released on January 31, 2013 on Armin’s Armada imprint, Armind.
