Cute Heels is the solo project of Victor Lenis, a contemporary artist living in Brussels, Belgium. Originally hailing from Bogota, Columbia during the 90’s, he grew up during the radical punk scene. It was in 2003 that he started working on electronic projects and music, and from there he started to rise. His passion and fascination for synthesizers and drum machines have produced an eclectic-yet-unique sound that is truly out of this world. It was also this passion that resulted in his first vinyl release as well as many subsequent digital-only releases. His influences stem from the early electronics as Proto – techno, raw house and the mono synth wave times of the 80’s new wave scene. It is this diverse background that allows him to be radical. Cute Heels is something that is eerily creeping towards being big and sophisticated.

Calibre 2000 is a dark, cold electro-techno track that leaves you chilled to the bone. It reminds me of Detroit techno and that of legendary Detroit techno DJ Kevin Saunderson, or better known from the group the Belleville Three. The constant beat gets your head bobbing and the melody just kicks your senses into overdrive. The synthesizers give the track a different dimension, making the song even more edgier and complex. The New Wave influence is not left behind and has to be my favourite part of the track. It reminds me of my love of all things 80’s. This track builds as it goes along and that makes it the perfect track to wind down with after a long day before you start getting ready for a night out on the town. The melody of this track is unique and that’s what makes this track amazing. The highs and lows take this track to another dimension. This is definitely one track you’ll want to add to your collection.

SV Forest is a much darker track, leaving the body feeling numb yet vivacious. This techno beauty leaves a haunting impression on you. The New Wave influence is still present with the drum track and beat. The beat morphs as the track goes along, giving complex and yet subtle hints of a dynamic track. The different sounds in this track highlight every sense, and allows an array of emotions to be felt. I felt as though I were in an underground club and surrounded by sounds and emotions. This track made me think of the story Little Red Riding Hood, reminding me that danger lurks around every corner. Having the element of danger just intrigues me further. SV Forest is a wonderful track with dimensions you’d have to hear to understand.
