EVENT REVIEW: Trance Sessions presents InTheDark with Factor B (extended set) at ONE LOFT 26-05-18

After delivering us a memorable Pharmacy night with Christopher Lawrence and Magnus, Trance Sessions returned Saturday, May 26th, 2018 with the second edition of their InTheDark series at One Loft. This time the headliner was Factor B alongside our very own Brian Longmire and Nick Brzezinski aka M45. The Canadian debut of Factor B was nothing less than a pure bless for us Torontonians and it did exceed all my expectations.

Unfortunately, I was a bit late to reach the venue due to some work, but I arrived by midnight and met up with my crew. This was my second trance show at One Loft and trust me, if you are into underground vibes, this is definitely your spot! It is a small venue with a comparatively smaller dance floor and the DJ booth is located in the front middle with properly tuned speakers. I personally like the bass of their sound system but it would be better if it could cover the hallway as well. Overall, the venue gives you a perfect rave chilling vibe like grabbing a beer and socializing on a dark underground trance floor where ears are dedicated to some good trance music.

I was sad and disappointed with myself because I missed Brian’s opening set. The man is a true gem at heart; I got to meet and chat with him afterward which cheered me up. As per our conversion, he said not to be sad and rather give my 100% to the rest of the night. When I asked him about his set he said this time the set was more progressive and melodic to create that starting warm-up vibe for the crowd. It was basically a message to the crowd that a long magical night is coming, so prepare yourself for the journey. He played for an hour and forty minutes, went from 120 to 125 bpm grooves, till M45 took over the decks. Some tracks from his set included Jeremy Olander Screena, PrydaChoo, Kate BushRunning Up That Hill (Orkidea Remix) and Three Drives – Greece 2000 (Sebastian Remix).

Since I was late, I expected I would only get half an hour of M45’s set (according to the set times). When I came to know Nick would be playing until 1am before the Aussie king of feels took over for the rest of the night, I was thrilled. Nick has proven that he is capable of delivering exactly what’s needed to the dancefloor at any hour. According to Nick, his goal was to make his set interesting with enough balanced energy and groove to get people ready for Factor B’s three hours of hard-hitting, uplifting trance. M45 dropped tracks like Amir Hussain Life In Mono (Solid Stone remix), and Armin Van Buuren ft. FioraWaiting For the Night (Beat Service remix), and then closed his set with Arty Zara and his brand new mashup of  4 Strings – “Take Me Away” vs Franic Dhuit – “Sushi Express‘ (Paul Angelo remix).

The clock hit 1AM and my heart rate increased to a rate that I don’t even know! As I mentioned earlier on my preview, I personally love Factor B‘s music and I never had the chance to see him yet. Finally, the time has come, and the man was behind the decks. I could feel the excitement build within myself and the crowd’s reaction was something I can’t even explain. The trance floor was filled with uplifting trance lovers and I was getting a feeling we were already in paradise. I can’t explain in words how I felt in those 3 hours because no words could describe it all. My soul was flying with happiness because it was a proper smooth journey of uplifting trance. This set was made for for veteran trance lovers as well as the newer ones because it was a blend of modern and classic uplifting trance. Brendan dropped classics like Armin Van Buuren‘s Imagine and my all time favourite from Above & Beyond, Home (A&B Club Mix) which made me cry out of joy. We were presented with his magical solo hits such as Factor B – Luna Therapy, Factor B – Something Like a Cure, and his personal remixes of The Thrillseekers The Last Time, Solarstone & Scott Bond Redline Highway. At one point, Factor B left the booth and ran into the crowd to dance and hug his fans. You can just imagine the excitement from the crowd when that happened!

The journey with Factor B ended at about 4AM. After the set finished, Factor B came out from the decks to hang out with his fans and let them get photos with him. I was tired, my legs were wrecked, but my soul didn’t want to leave the venue and my heart was still pumping from the uplifting feels. I think that this set will be in our hearts for a long, long time. Trance Sessions delivered us a perfect trance event to remember, and on top of it Factor B has posted the entire set on his Soundcloud!
